A YOUTH club that was never expected to survive until Christmas has celebrated with a festive party.

Margaret Stancomb After School Club, in Trowbridge, provides games and activities for youngsters aged between 4 and 14 years.

But in September the youth group was threatened with closure due to dwindling members.

Kay Brown and Teresina Worley took over the club in October and held a special Christmas party on Friday.

Mrs Brown said: "We are still here and provide a place so parents can take a break and send their children for some fun and games.

"The Christmas party was good fun. We had karaoke but we don't like to dictate what the children do if they don't like something they are free to do what they enjoy."

The club holds regular evenings with computer games, a table football game, pool tables and special events including cookery.

The club will be open from Dece-mber 22-24. For more information call 07973 722250.
