How did Danny Lake know that the 30 individuals employed by the employment agency were asylum seekers? Did they have illuminated signs on their heads or did he just make assumptions based on skin colour?
His letter is based on a bunch of popular myths. Free money, food, accommodation, telly, video the only one he left out was the car.
The truth is asylum seekers are given accommodation (usually pretty awful) and food vouchers.
They cannot work until they have been here six months, and usually end up in poorly paid areas such as fast food catering.
Truly a life to be envied.
Maybe Danny should examine his own work experience and qualifications. There is very little unemployment in Swindon for those who are employable.
There are also very few asylum seekers in Swindon all of 150.
It's always easier to blame someone else for your failures, especially if their skin is a different colour .
