BATH wing Simon Danielli admits that Matt Williams' controversial blueprint for Scottish rugby may force him to reassess his long-term career in England.
But the powerful winger is adamant that he has no need to make any hasty decisions regarding his future and is more than happy with his role in the Recreation Ground Premiership challenge.
Williams, who took up the Scottish reins from Ian McGeechan after the World Cup, shook up rugby north of the border this week by warning players they will not be selected for future teams if they continue to ply their trade in a different country.
Former Leinster chief Williams branded the policy of letting players ply their trade elsewhere 'counter-productive', adding: ''We are going to implement a policy over the next few years that we are calling Fortress Scotland.
''Scottish players must be playing in Scotland to play for their country and the captain will be coming out of the professional teams in Scotland.
''Our policy of sending our players to England to save costs is counter-productive and it will lead to the end of Scottish rugby being competitive on the international stage.
''By the next World Cup our aim is to have every player that goes to that World Cup playing in the pro teams in Scotland.''
That has direct repercussions for the likes of Danielli who, ironically, was capped by McGeechan last year after shining in the Zurich Premiership.
A World Cup berth followed, Danielli scoring two superb tries against the United States in the pool stages.
But the Edinburgh-born flyer, who is likely to be on the bench for the visit of Newcastle Falcons tomorrow (2.15pm), insisted their there were no immediate ramifications regarding his club future.
Danielli, who joins a get-together with Williams' first squad on Monday, said: ''He (Williams) has spoken to us about that and he explained the reasons why he was doing it.
''It is not a problem as regards players with existing contracts, so it's a fairly long-term thing rather than an immediate one.''
He added: ''I'll cross that bridge when I come to it it's a longer-term issue. For now, I just hope I can play well and get back into the Scotland squad.''
As for the Falcons, Danielli admits there is an element of revenge-seeking in the Bath squad after their 19-17 loss at Kingston Park earlier this season their one defeat in the Premiership to date.
''They are the only side to have beaten us and I'm sure they will be thinking that they can do it twice,'' he added.
''Newcastle are a very strong side, with strong ball runners from the pack, but we don't want to be making any excuses come Monday morning.''
n England World Cup stars Will Greenwood and Jason Leonard make their return to the Zurich Premiership arena tomorrow night.
Centre Greenwood, a try-scorer in the vital World Cup pool victory over South Africa, will start for Harlequins in the Edgeley Park clash against Sale Sharks.
And prop Leonard, international rugby's world record cap holder, is among the substitutes.
Quins are without flanker Pat Sanderson, hooker Ace Tiatia and scrum-half Ben Willis, who are all involved in theEngland XV-New Zealand Barbarians tomorrow. "This is the first of three difficult away games for us," said Quins chief executive Mark Evans.
