CATs survived a late scare on Saturday to set up a Dorset and Wilts Vase second round tie at home to Swindon.
At one stage the visitors were leading by 17-0 but by the end they were relieved to hear the final whistle as Minety threatened to stage a remarkable comeback.
Having won the toss, Cats elected to play down hill and with the wind and with the elements on their side they were able to apply good early pressure on their opponents.
A well-worked switch move in midfield released captain John Cox to score under the posts, this was easily converted by Danny Wells.
Matthew Glover added another try after more good work from Cox allowed him to score in the corner unchallenged. Wells again converted.
A drop goal from wing Matthew Trueman stretched the lead to 17-0.
With half time approaching Minety hit back to score a fine try, driving the maul off a line-out to give them fresh hope.
CATs started the second half well with their forwards and backs taking the game to their opponents but Minety defended solidly and with some good field kicking began to grow in confidence.
A well worked unconverted try by Minety saw the score reduced to 17-10 and then with the hosts now in total control, a kick and chase allowed Minety to touch down for another unconverted try in the corner.
The score was now 17-15 but despite some heavy Minety pressure CATs hung on to progress into the second round.
CATs entertain Calne tomorrow.
