DOMESTIC violence is a sickening crime that is known to rise over Christmas. So it is encouraging to learn that those who terrorise their partners are being brought to book in a heightened campaign.
Part of the problem that police and prosecutors face is the victims' fear in giving evidence against the person who has abused them. When a victim reports a domestic crime they are now kept safe and have professionals they can turn to for support at any time.
The days have gone when crimes at home were not taken seriously and the impact on the whole family was not considered.
The recent conviction for murder of wife-beater Glyn Razzell has raised the profile of domestic violence.
Quite rightly society will no longer tolerate this despicable form of abuse.
