A SIXTH successive defeat leaves Devizes third from bottom of the Screwfix Premier Division.

Dave Hopkins' side were soundly beaten 4-1 by Exmouth at Nursteed Road.

With the elements in their favour in the first half, the hosts took the lead when Steve Campbell fired home.

The visitors levelled before the break when Danny Burwood made no mistake from the spot.

Exmouth player-manager Russell Wilson headed his side into the lead at the start of a one-sided second period.

Densham then struck twice to extend Devizes' miserable run.

Melksham are faring little better after a 3-1 defeat at Bishop Sutton pushed them down to fourth from bottom.

Liam Fussell set Sutton on their way with a crisp left-foot drive two minutes before the interval.

Joe Parsons headed a second after the break and Matt Tiley made the game safe after springing the offside trap with five minutes remaining.

Dean Ranger netted a late consolation for Nigel Tripp's troops.

At the other end of the division, honours were even as the top two collided. Leaders Bideford maintained their six-point advantage after drawing 3-3 at nearest rivals Brislington.

Former Calne boss Paul Rankin was frustrated by his former club and an old colleague.

Rankin's Larkhall side were on course for a 1-0 win over the Bremhill View boys after Luke Scott converted Matt Townley's cross on 64 minutes.

But Ben Highmore broke through to equalise seven minutes later.

Larkhall thought they had snatched victory late on but a goal-bound effort was brilliantly saved by Steve Hale Rankin's former co-manager at Calne.

Hale, who has most recently been plying his trade at Hungerford, had answered an 11th-hour call from current Bremhill boss Kelvin Highmore following a goalkeeping crisis.

Calne slip to 11th despite the point, while inactive Corsham held on to fifth as Shrewton could only draw 1-1 at home to Chard.
