OLYMPIAD staff fear Rudolf the red-nosed reindeer may have been kidnapped from Santa's Grotto but as yet have received no ransom note.
Rudolf went missing last Thursday after the Sport Centre's Winter Wonderland, in the Monkton Park centre's caf, closed for the evening.
Staff say the grotto's remaining half dozen reindeers are inconsolable and are desperate for the swift return of the star sleigh puller.
Olympiad spokesperson, Barbara Gray, said: "Santa was very upset when he came in the next day."
The grotto has proved a big success and 23-month-old twins Gabriel and Oscar Buckland made sure they made time to pop in and see Santa and put in their Christmas orders, escorted by mum, Claire, 35, from The Causeway, Chippenham.
They joined scores of children flocking to visit the grotto, which was set up only a few weeks ago.
