SUE Evans created such a spectacular Christmas lights display at her home in Green Lane, Sherston, she put other villagers in the shade .
She ended up as the only entrant in a competition organised by the charity Sherston 1016 to raise funds for food parcels for the elderly.
Group spokesman Eric Thacker said other houses in the village had been decked out with decorations but Mrs Evans' lights were so good nobody else wanted to enter.
He said: "I think they deserved to win. The decorations were the best in the village.
"I don't think anybody else wanted to enter because they knew they couldn't win."
Mrs Evans, 54, together with husband Roger, 58, and daughter Tracey, 26, have been collecting the lights in the last few years and estimate they have spent £800 lighting up the house.
"I do it because we like it," Mr Evans said. "It is a bit of a laugh, just a bit of fun we like to have every year.
"We have eight grandchildren and they love it. I have also had a good reaction from everybody."
The display included Father Christmas and his sleigh, a snowman and hundreds and hundreds of multicoloured lights.
Mrs Evans will receive a Christmas gift as her prize later this week.
Sherston 1016 handed out its Christmas boxes containing puddings, chocolates and other festive treats to 206 houses in the village over the weekend.
