FORMER Bishop Wordsworth's School pupil Richard Hill produced a typically gutsy performance on Saturday when he captained England for the first time.
Hill, who began his playing career with Salisbury RFC, led the World Cup winners out at Twicken-ham where a full house saw England beat New Zealand Barbarians 42-17.
As well as requiring 13 stitches for an eye wound sustained early in the game, the flanker suffered a broken nose following a nasty incident involving Troy Flavell who was subsequently cited by Eng-land's management team.
Hill, badly cut, bloodied and bruised, still returned to the field after the game for the huge celebrations, with his World Cup winning colleagues to join their lap of honour with the Webb Ellis Cup.
