THE future of rugby in Melksham and Devizes is looking bright following the selection of a group of players for representational teams.
Six of the Melksham and Devizes Under-16 team have played their way into being selected for their county sides this season. Among the half dozen boys who were picked were for their respective counties were winger David Finlay, flanker Jamie Harris and prop Tom Jonik all for Dorset and Wiltshire.
The other three players were prop Ewan Lacey for Dorset and Wiltshire, full-back Scott Simmons, also for Dorset and Wiltshire, and second row Matt Sollars for Somerset.
Devizes and Melksham's Graham Lacey said: "This is a significant achievement not only for the players but also the clubs since most of the young men who started their rugby in the mini rugby sections at Melksham and Devizes.
"The clubs are delighted Scott Simmons has progressed to the South West Regional squad where he will have further opportunities to eventually pull on the white shirt of England."
