Several months ago I wrote to Readers' Letters about the dangers to schoolchildren when a new pedestrian crossing was formed in Bradley Road, Trowbridge, near the junction with College Road, when a bus stop was left operating within the crossing zig-zag lines.
Happily, but only recently, the bus stop has been re-sited further down the road.
This week, a brand new crossing has emerged and opened at Bythesea Road opposite the new retirement flats next to County Hall. I just could not believe what I was seeing.
Yes, you've guessed it. A bus stop operating within the zig-zags, just two yards beside the black and white lines of the actual crossing. It can probably be seen from the highways department offices at County Hall.
Can we please re-site this one, not in a few months time, but now, before anyone is involved in an accident?
Surely there must be an offence either under the Road Traffic Act or the pedestrian crossing regulations.
One mistake or error may be excusable, two are not, just incompetence.
