THE clouds of doom are beginning to lift at Hardenhuish Park as Steve White leads Chippenham from the foot of the Premier Division table.

The Bluebirds have moved off the bottom and are within striking distance of a play-off place for the new Conference tier scheduled to be introduced next season.

Weston-super-Mare are the visitors to Wiltshire tomorrow and victory will see the Bluebirds move level on points with the Seagulls on the fringe of the bottom four.

Four points collected from trips to Havant and Chelmsford have boosted morale within the camp and now White hopes to give the supporters a lift by winning at home for the first time this season.

Chippenham's three victories in the league have all come on the road the first a 2-1 win in the reverse fixture at Weston back in August.

"It's important to get that first home win," said White.

"It will come sooner or later and it would be nice to give the fans a Christmas present by winning against Weston.

"Our last three performances have been good and we should have won all three games.

"Draws are no good to us really, we've got 20 games left and we've got to look to win every time."

White will come face to face with former Swindon teammate Paul Hunt who recently moved to Weston from Highworth.

The Bluebirds boss is likely to give on-loan Southampton defender Michael Green his first start with Ellis Wilmot moving into midfield in place of the departing Keith O'Halloran.

Weston have drawn first blood ahead of the showdown by lining up a deal for ex-Bristol Rovers midfielder Lewis Hogg.

The 21-year-old had been training with Chippenham but is set to sign for their Premier Division rivals.

White was not bothered by Hogg's decision though, saying: "Having seen him in training he was no better than the lads we already have."
