With regards to the Goldiggers plan, I am writing this at 5pm on a wet Sunday afternoon. I agree that this is the biggest chance that Chippenham has had to do something right for ages.

Question: What are all your children doing at the moment? Wouldn't it be great to have an American 1950s-style cafe-cum-meeting place for them?

After all, they are our future. How about a bowling hall, Internet cafe, indoor skate park, (soundproofed of course), ice skating rink, TV room, but mainly just a safe meeting place. The list could be endless. Ask your children, I bet they agree.

I grew up in the days when we could walk in the park as children on our own safely. Those days we all know have gone so a safe friendly haven would go down well I am sure with all concerned.

The Goldiggers/Gaumont building is Chippenham people's heritage. Let's not lose it to some property developer who just sees that a quick buck can be made.

The town is fast becoming just a commuter town. Recently I had someone who lives in Cepen Park inform me that they had lived here since it was built, but this was the first time they had visited our quaint town as they used the M4 to get to their house and shop/work in Swindon.

Let's show them what they are missing.
