IT was full steam ahead in Bulkington on Saturday as villagers pledged their support to re-open a 150-year-old community hall.
The building has been closed for two months after surveyors ruled the floor was unsafe.
Villagers have since rallied round the hall volunteering time and effort to renovate the building.
On Saturday over 200 children were treated to a Christmas party with steam train rides, a trip to see Santa Claus and a brass band to raise extra cash.
The train rides on a 1,000ft track at the home of Nev Boulton, chairman of the village hall committee, on Mill Lane raised over £500.
He said: "Everyone in the village has rallied round to support the hall it has been a massive effort.
"We have had pensioners help dig for the new floor, farmers clearing away all the soil and a local builder lending his expertise too.
"The steam train rides were enjoyed by over 200 children which was fantastic and on top of that we raised a bit of cash as well."
Villagers have now replaced the floor and aim to spend the money raised on redecoration.
