A 45-YEAR-OLD woman suffered a broken jaw after a serious assault in Warminster town centre on Friday night.

The victim was attacked by one of a group of three women at around 11.30pm outside the Heart Foundation shop in Market Place.

Police are currently examining CCTV footage of incident and are appealing for more witnesses to come forward. They believe all the women involved are local.

PC Vincent Logue, of Warminster police said: "There was a prior altercation in the John Barleycorn pub, but both the parties left separately before coming together again outside the Heart Foundation shop.

"One of the group was seen walking away with the victim's black hand bag.

"The group of three all had blonde hair and are aged between 30 and 45. One of them was particularly tall with shoulder length blonde hair and was wearing a white top.

"As it was pub closing time, the area was very busy and the incident must have been witnessed by many people."

Ironically PC Logue was with colleagues making another arrest just 20 metres away at the time, but did not see the incident.

Anyone with information should contact PC Logue or PC Verity Ruffell on (01985) 847000.
