THERE are a number of walks taking place on New Year's Day. Here are the details of some of them:
COATE WATER: Five-mile stroll through the Great Western Community Forest. Meet at the Coate Water Ranger Centre at 10am. Call 01793 771419 for more information and to reserve a place.
HIGHWORTH: Short local walk of about four miles. Meet at the Brewery Street car park at 10.30am. Call 01793 763262 for more information.
CRICKLADE: Sneak preview of the Blakehill Nature Reserve, which is not yet open to the public. Volunteer warden will be running a guided walk at 2pm. Meet by the entrance by the War Memorial on Braydon Lane, Chelworth Industrial Estate. For more information call the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust on 01380 725670.
