MORE than £2,000 has been raised for charity in memory of Highworth resident Bryan Hunt.
More than half the money was collected at Bryan's funeral, while the rest was raised from a sponsored bike ride from John O'Groats to Land's End. Bryan, of Brookfield, Highworth, died in April at the age of 59, just three weeks after being diagnosed with a brain tumour. The cash collected at his funeral was given to the Prospect Hospice in Wroughton, while the money from the bike ride was donated to Cancer Research UK. The ride was organised by Henry Emery, a lifelong friend of Bryan's only child, Marcus, 27. Henry and two friends completed the ride in 12 days during the summer. The cyclists have just received a certificate of appreciation from Cancer Research UK thanking them for their efforts.
Bryan's wife Gerry said: "Bryan was a wonderful man, and we miss him very much. He would have been really touched by all the money that has been raised in memory of him."
