Now one of Swindon's most familiar landmarks, the Cellular Operations building near Peatmoor Lagoon has won a range of prestigious design awards since it opened in January 2000.
The building is basically a high-tech call centre and has been affectionately dubbed the glass cigar or Zeppelin because of the extensive use of glass used along the front of the building.
Among the awards the building has claimed include the Best Large Office Award and commendations from the Civic Trust for architecture and environmental design and the Independent newspaper listed it as one of the 50 best buildings in Britain.
The £6m pound building has been regularly opened to the public on National Trust Heritage open days.
In the summer Cellular Operations' parent company Vodafone announced it was closing the offices with 480 jobs being lost.
