WITH reference to the article in the Evening Advertiser entitled Fat Cat Jobs Advertised, the facts stated are incorrect.
The current situation is that the three positions being advertised by Swindon Services are existing positions that have become vacant and need to be filled to continue efficiently with the operations of the borough council.
These posts were advertised prior to the freeze on vacant posts, which started on December 8.
One of the posts has been vacant for some time and of the other two, one was vacated by the director of housing and the other by an officer who has moved to a position with Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Therefore, this will have no effect on the council tax and it is essential that these posts are filled in order to carry out operational duties efficiently for the good of the public and the council as each of these directorates provide essential services, ie environmental management domestic refuse collection, leisure services school meals and building cleaning, and construction services maintenance of the council's 11,500 dwellings.
