SALISBURY City presented manager Nick Holmes with the Christmas present he wanted most when his side picked up all three points in a 4-2 Boxing Day victory at near-neighbours Bashley.

The New Forest side took the lead on 12 minutes through a Martin Whiddett goal, but Wayne Turk equalised just before the half-hour mark.

Adam Wallace continued his impressive recent strike rate by putting the visitors in front just three minutes later following good work by Steve Strong.

Wallace struck again on 36 minutes bagging his 13th of the campaign with a spot kick after Matt Tubbs was felled in the box.

Bashley reduced the arrears four minutes into the second half when Aaron Cook headed past Kevin Sawyer.

City's fourth goal arrived in the 73rd minute when Turk's shot was turned into his own net by Cook.

"We gave two sloppy goals away," said the City boss, "but I was happy with how we coped with the awful conditions. The pitch was better than we thought it would be, but the wind caused all kinds of problems."
