At last local Tories show their true colours with their decision to close two council run care homes in Swindon.

What a different story it was at last April's full council when they attacked Labour for daring to suggest that council homes would be sold off under the Tories. Those present that night will remember the protestations of Coun Milton as she attacked Coun Kevin Small for causing unnecessary worry to council tenants over the future of their homes under a Tory administration.

Coun Milton's recent protestations that opposition parties are trying to turn the care homes issue into a "political football" is no doubt her attempt to cover up the unfair and flawed consultation that her party pretends they'll carry out on care home closures.

The Tory administration, having already decided to close two care homes, will force vulnerable elderly residents to decide, under the guise of consultation, which care homes are going to get the chop. Some choice! What a heartless Tory present, a Christmas filled with fear and vulnerable residents left worrying, "Will I loose my home next year?"
