Last week, on a very cold day, my daughter, grandson and I caught the bus from The Copse Park and Ride to town. Around 4.30pm we decided to get the bus back home. It was a lot colder by then and we were eager to get home.

We waited for about 10 minutes for a bus to arrive. Great, we thought, soon be home in the warm.

If only! There was a lady in front of us in the queue that was very irate about the length of time she'd been waiting with her children, one of whom was also in a pushchair.

She noticed that there were people sitting in the seats that are used by wheelchair users and pushchairs. She had some discussion with the driver who was not in least bit interested in asking these people to move and told her and us to wait for the next bus.

When the next bus arrived I asked the driver if what had happened was right, he apologised and said no.

I rang Thamesdown to complain about what had happened. The person I spoke to was very unhelpful and told me that the driver was right making us wait and that it was up to the passengers sitting in these seats to move at their own free will.

I find this ridiculous. There are signs asking for these seats to be given up for wheelchairs and pushchairs so why is this not enforced?

Thamesdown want people to use this service but the way they treat people leaves a lot to be desired.

I hope also that this letter will make the inconsiderate passengers feel guilty.
