AFTER replacing his fishing tackle with new, after his kit was stolen from his garage, Coleview ACs Barry Chalk won his second match on the trot with his new gear when he weighed in 21-7-0 a nine chub catch taken from the Rushy part of the River Thames in Coleview's Christmas match.
Chub and roach showed throughout and weights were good. Barry was followed closely by John Jarman 18-8-0 (chub), Barry Jenkins was third with 17-5-0 (chub) and John Jordan was fourth with 15-13-0 also of chub.
Neil Haydon had a good mixed bag of 10-2-0 for fifth and Andy Dixey had a nice bag of roach weighing 9-5-0 for sixth.
The Peatmoor AC fundraiser turned out to be a cracker, with bream and tench feeding well.
Match winner was James Forty with 26-10-0 and was followed home by A Polland, 20lb, and in third place was young John Gayland with 19lb 13 1/2 oz, beating his dad Mark Gayland who finished fourth with 9-14-0 from a couple of pegs away.
After winning the club championship at Plaums AC for three years on the trot, Denis Mulholland had to be content with runners-up spot this year, behind Steve Trimby who totalled 172 pts, 10 pts more than Denis.
Barry Trimby finished with 114pts for third and Dave Watkins was fourth with 98pts.
Sunday's match was won by Steve's father Barry with 4-5-0 followed by Dave Watkins 1-15-0 and Denis Mulholland was third with 15oz.
Bonus caster roach were required to ensure a good weight in Haydon Sts' Christmas match on the roadside at Froxfield. John Hale won his second canal match on the trot, this time with 4-4-0 of roach, just ahead of Marlborough's secretary Malcolm Ellis's 4-2-0, he had the last laugh however when he won the raffle.
Third was Mick Robins, 3-10-0, and there was a tie between Roger Giles and Dave Homer for fourth, with 3-4-0 apiece. A total of £66 was raised for the Prospect Foundation.
Marlborough's Christmas match was won well by Gary Williamson who took over 300 fish for a 15-7-0 mainly roach bag.
