Steve Hulbert is quite right (letters, December 24). The disaffected youth of Chippenham need somewhere to congregate indoors, in a place that is theirs.
This might keep them out of the cinema where their boisterous behaviour has put people off going there. I suspect there is also a connection between the lack of facilities and the vandalism.
Steve describes Chippenham as becoming nothing more than a commuter town. I agree with that but my view of what Chippenham is
becoming is not printable.
We need a campaign to let our youngsters have somewhere to congregate. Of course, there was the skatepark. This should be re-established in its original position. This land was given for the recreational use of all the residents of Chippenham, not just those in Monkton Park. An outdoor swimming pool would be nice as Chippenham doesn't have a proper swimming pool at the moment.
