Sue Davis with Charlie CookeMIDWIFERY staff at Trowbridge maternity unit were kept on their toes on Christmas Day with the arrival of four little bundles of festive joy.
Little Felix Mornement can claim a slice of the local celebrity limelight being the first Christmas baby in Wiltshire.
His mother Libby would not let contractions get in the way of her Christmas preparations and managed to get everything ready before going to Trowbridge maternity unit, where Felix was born at 12.35am.
Mrs Mornement said: "When my contractions started at about 8pm on Christmas Eve, we just went into a wrapping frenzy.
"I managed to finish all the wrapping off and clean the house up and get off to hospital and was home in Bromham by 4am." The couple already have two daughters, Imogen, five, and two-year-old Maisy.
Dad Tom Mornement said: "It was really nice to get home from hospital in time to wake up with the other children and to show them their new brother.
"I suppose being the first baby born in the county is quite a claim to fame."
Sue Davis, from Melksham, was the next into Trowbridge maternity unit and her son, Charlie Cooke, was born at 5.05am on Christmas Day, weighing 7lb 13.5oz. Her youngest daughter Billie, aged 13 months, was born on Bonfire Night.
Billie and her eldest daughter, 11-year-old Meelie, are delighted with their new baby brother.
Miss Davis said: "Meelie was an only child for 10 years so she thinks it is wicked to have the two younger ones around. It is lovely that he was born on Christmas Day and it is nice for him and Billie both to celebrate their birthdays on festival days."
Five generations of the same Trowbridge family got together on Christmas Day with the arrival of baby girl Luka Lepage, who was born at 11.05am on Christmas morning.
A few hours after giving birth Rachel Lepage was recuperating with her in-laws at their home in North Bradley along with proud father Jason Lepage, 25, grandmother Carol Evans, 43, great-grandfather Roystone Drewitt, 70, and her great-great-grandmother Ellen Ballefant, 97.
Mrs Ballefant said: "Luka is a lovely little thing. She is so beautiful and it is lovely to have us all together."
New mum Rachel said: "The past few days have just been so surreal but I am so glad Luka has arrived and is healthy and beautiful, but I am a little biased I suppose."
Annabel Blackman's baby son, Toby, could not wait any longer for his Christmas presents and was born just after 2pm.
Annabel and husband Andy, of Trowbridge, are now trying to figure out how to make sure Toby still gets the chance to celebrate his birthday, without it being overshadowed by Christmas.
Mrs Blackman said: "We are thinking we will have to try and have a party earlier in the year when the weather is nice for him because we do not want him to miss out."
He was due on December 21 but kept his parents waiting until the big day and was born at the RUH, Bath, weighing 7lb 5oz, after an eight-hour labour.
Mother and baby were transferred to Trowbridge for some rest and recuperation where the Christmas party was already under way.
Mrs Blackman said: "We had not made any plans for Christmas because I knew if we did the baby would arrive in the middle of it.
"I was a bit out of it having just given birth but from what I remember the nurses and everyone made it a really great day."
