KELVIN Highmore praised the passion and desire of his Calne Town side after their victory over Corsham on Boxing Day.

The Calne manager admitted his players had been spurred on by comments made by Corsham manager Colin Bush before the match.

He said: "To be honest my job was done for me. He told the Wiltshire Times and Chippenham News that we would have to play at our best for 90 minutes and we did that.

"Today was all about a result but we produced a good performance as well. It was never going to be a passing game but it was all about who wanted it more and we certainly went out there and showed more desire than they did.

"I am over the moon with the lads and to be honest I felt there was only ever going to be one winner."

The Calne side included a number of ex Corsham players, including James Lye and Chris Jones, and Highmore felt they were determined to prove their point.

He said: "We have got a few players in the team who had a point to prove, especially the old Corsham boys"
