REFERENCE the Star letter in the Wiltshire Times on December 26, an interesting point was raised by Tony Carroll regarding the zig-zag crossing.
I have looked at the Highway Code and paragraph 167 states: You must not park on a crossing or in the area covered by the zig-zag lines.
You must not overtake the moving vehicle nearest the crossing or the vehicle nearest the crossing which has stopped to give way to pedestrians. Laws ZPPPCRGD regs 18, 20 and 24 and RTRA sect 25 (5).
Therefore can we get clarification from a spokesperson from Wiltshire constabulary if the driver of the bus is committing an offence by stopping to let people on and off, and also if a motorist drives past the bus when it is stationary. Is this also an offence?
