Trowbridge Town are sitting pretty at the top of the Wilts League Premier Division at the halfway stage of the season but their rivals are queueing up behind waiting to pounce on any slip.

AFC Stratton, Bradford and Biddestone are all waiting in the wings for us to slip up, so there is plenty of work to be done yet."

Second in the table AFC Stratton are just a point behind the leaders but have played three games more.

They are at home to Devizes Town Reserves, while Trowbridge host rock-bottom Pewsey Vale.

Manager Stef Kucynski thinks his side will need to concentrate on winning their matches and not worry about what the other side are doing.

He said: "We have got a great bunch of lads and they just have to keep winning.

"We play Trowbridge at the end of the month and we can beat them. We have had some tough games with the local clubs and any of them are in with a shout of beating the leaders."

Third-placed Purton Reserves are having one of their best seasons ever, boss Ian Restell saying: "I'm very pleased with the lads. If anyone said at the start of the season we would finish fifth I would have bitten their hand off.''

One of the highlights of the Wilts League programme this weekend is a local derby clash between Cricklade Town and Purton.

Both sides are going well in the Premier Division and an exciting battle is envisaged.

Wroughton have had their troubles, playing all of their games away from home due to changing facilities at their Weir Field ground.

Chris Pethick's side have turned in some good performances, but have also had a couple of heavy defeats.

Wroughton entertain Warminster at Supermarine's ground tomorrow.

Aldbourne have also been inconsistent and will need to get a good run going to get them into the the top half of the table.

Manager Pete Orsi said: "We seem to have a good enough squad and it's up to them to be more consistent and finish as high as possible."

Other sides in the section that could upset the leaders are Bradford Town and Cricklade, while anchored at the other end are Malmesbury Vics and Pewsey Vale, who have both suffered from call-ups to senior sides.

Chasing leaders Trowbridge Town Reserves in the Junior Division One are Wanborough United, who are just three points behind the leaders.

New College lead Junior Division Two, a point clear of Swindon Asians with the surprise team of the season West Swindon in third spot.

Waiting in the wings are Trax, Blunsdon United, Minety and Blyskawica.

Pick of tomorrow's matches in the junior divisions are Wanborough United against Bromham in Division One and Swindon Asians against Trax in Division Two.
