A SWINDON organisation has been awarded a contract to help people with disabilities return to work.
The Work Preparation contract has gone to Enterprise Works, a part of the council's Swindon Services.
The three-year contract from Jobcentre Plus makes Enterprise Works responsible for helping people with disabilities return to work after sickness. They have had more than 40 years' experience of working with people with disabilities.
The contract dovetailed with the arrival at Enterprise Works of new co-ordinator, Karen Heaven.
Karen will specialise in the Workstep scheme, which helps people with disabilities find jobs.
"Because of my previous role I am able to look at disability in employment from the point of view of both the employee and the employer," said Karen, who was 24 years with Zurich Financial Services. "Workstep is about developing relationships with people with disabilities and supporting them in their jobs at the same time as helping employers."
