PEOPLE living or working in central Swindon must be appalled at MP Michael Wills' suggestion to "bulldoze the lot" (headline EA, Dec 8).
While many people would agree that much of central Swindon is a concrete jungle and an eyesore, there are still some areas of character such as the Railway Village and the streets around Broad Street.
Recent commercial developments such as the Brunel shopping area have had millions invested in it in recent years.
To bulldoze the lot would be a shameful waste of resources and threatens the dwindling parts of Swindon of historic interest that remain.
Perhaps Mr Wills made the comment tongue-in-cheek, but if he is serious then he should be condemned.
