CHIPPENHAM were denied their first home victory in the league as Nuneaton snatched a 1-1 draw in the final two minutes.

The draw saw them drop to bottom spot, a point adrift of bitter rivals Bath City, who moved above them after a 2-0 win over Hednesford.

Chippenham had been the better side in the opening period against Nuneaton and led through a James Constable goal midway through the first half.

They were forced on the back foot in the second half but nearly held on for the vital win finally being breached in the 88th minute by substitute Darren Collins.

"I can't really moan about the result," said manager Steve White. "We are at the bottom of the table against a top-three side with a massive budget.

"All in all, a draw was a fair result in a game of two halves.

"We were much improved in the first half and deserved our lead. They battered us in the second but we did have a couple of good chances.

"Unfortunately we can't close a game out at 1-0. Against all of my attacking principles we tried to shore up at the back. A free-kick is pumped into our box and 'Bobs your Uncle' they score it was a sickener.

"However, all is not lost. It is tight at the bottom but we have made a big improvement in recent weeks.

"We must be tighter at the back, now it is a case of getting the balance between attack and defence right," he added.
