SUPERMARINE slipped to their 10th league defeat of the season in the Dr Martens Western League, going down 3-1 to third-placed Gloucester City.
Marine could not have asked for a worse start, losing Dave Slattery through injury and then conceding a penalty in the first three minutes.
Andy Hoskins netted from the spot for the hosts after keeper Tom King had brought down Lee Smith.
City added a second later in the half after Smith set-up Tom Webb.
Ray Baverstock's men pulled a goal back in the second-half after Dave Toomey was fouled in the area. Giles Harris slotted home the spot kick to cut the lead to 2-1.
However, shortly afterwards Jimmy Cox restored Gloucester's two-goal cushion.
"It was a very disappointing performance" admitted boss Baverstock, "and we didn't deserve anything better than a 3-1 defeat.
"The first half was our worst of the season. We gave away a sloppy early penalty and it just carried on from there.
"I suppose we played for about 15 minutes out of the entire 90, which is not acceptable and I have told the players that they need to buck their ideas up."
