HIGHWORTH boss John Fisher is set to hit the January sales in a bid to bolster his thinning squad.

Fisher's side travel to Calne in the Wiltshire Senior Cup tonight, and are struggling in the midfield department following Jamie Mills' transfer to Wantage.

With Paul Donnelly sidelined for six weeks with a hamstring problem and Mark Belcher out for the rest of the season with cruciate damage, Fisher hopes to secure the services of Fairford's Lee Clark.

Highworth have made an approach for Clark and Fisher hopes to begin negotiations when the player returns from a trip to Australia next week.

In the meantime, a makeshift midfield quartet will feature at Bremhill View this evening, with Russ Byrne

returning alongside Dave Webb, Matt Jack and Ian McSherry.

Calne have their own problems, with Ben Moore (foot) and James Lye (thigh) set to miss out.

Martin Wheeler will be recalled after returning from holiday, and goalkeeper Dave Hunt has been drafted in from Melksham.

Wootton Bassett travel to fellow Hellenic League strugglers Pewsey Vale for their tie and manager Pete Yeardley also has a depleted squad.

Paul Patel, Steve Yeardley, Nathan Hall, Mark Vaughan and Geoff Swatton are all unavailable, and Stuart Bellinger is cup-tied after featuring for Highworth in the previous round.

Mark Simpkins, Dave Jones and Sam Reason are in line for a recall.
