Ref. 28498-74SAM Ronayne wants everyone to savour the birth of her daughter Rosie so she has created a baguette in her name.
The chicken, pineapple and mayonnaise sandwich, called the Rosie Special, will be sold at The Baguette Bar in Prospect Place, Old Town, where Mrs Ronayne, 29, worked during her pregnancy.
She said: "I craved cold chicken and pineapple, so this is the perfect filling to celebrate little Rosie."
Mrs Ronayne became partial to pineapple after being told it could speed up Rosie's arrival.
During the final weeks of her pregnancy, she ate up to three Rosie Specials, washed down with several pints of pineapple juice, every day.
Mrs Ronayne said: "I was so desperate to have a Christmas baby and pineapple is supposed to hurry things along. But pineapple didn't really go with my usual bacon baguette, so I tried it with other combinations and chicken tasted best."
And her recipe for labour worked wonders because Rosie Enyanor Ronayne was born on New Year's Day at 8.51am in the Great Western Hospital.
Weighing a bouncing 9lbs 7oz, Rosie's appetite is every bit as healthy as her mother's.
Mrs Ronayne said: "Rosie is giving me sleepless nights, wanting feeding all hours. But I love looking at her rosy cheeks, she is just so beautiful."
Rosie's middle name, Enyanor (Ronayne spelt backwards) was invented in honour of her late grandfather, John Ronayne, who died in February last year, aged 63.
Mrs Ronayne said: "Even when she gets married, Rosie will still have Ronayne in her name. John would have been so proud."
Mr Ronayne set up The Baguette Shop with his wife, Brenda, 56, in 1996.
Brenda still runs the shop, with the help of her stepson, Stuart, 36, who is Sam's husband.
The shop now sells more than 2,000 baguettes a week, all of which are imported from the continent and freshly cooked on the premises.
At present the most popular baguette is the chicken and cheese melt with lettuce and mayonnaise called Lisa after the customer who first ordered the filling.
But Rosie's father reckons the Rosie Special, priced at £2.20, will be hot competition for Lisa.
He said: "The Rosie Special is surprisingly moreish. Even I can't get enough of them and I'm not even pregnant."
Rosie's brother, Daniel, three, has also got the baguette bug.
Mr Ronayne said: "He likes them plain with butter best. But now the Rosie Special is out, he will probably try one because he loves his sister so much."
