STEFANI Miglioranzi is facing a race against time as a groin injury threatens to scupper his chances of facing Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

The New Yorker picked up a groin injury in the win over Bournemouth and it is touch and go at this stage as to whether he will be fit.

He said: "I rested on Sunday but when I woke up on Monday it was still really sore.

"I've been able to do some work in the pool and on the exercise bike and although it's improving, it's still sore."

A decision on the midfielder's fitness is likely to be left as late as possible, and the 25-year-old admits he is desperate to face Wednesday.

He said: "I've never played at Hillsborough before and it's a fixture I've been looking forward to.

"We've come into good form whereas they haven't been doing too well at home. It's hopefully a good time to face them."

Miglioranzi led Town's fightback when the two sides met at the County Ground on the opening day of the season.

With Town 3-0 down, he headed home from close range to haul Andy King's men back into the match. Sammy Igoe pulled a further goal back after the break but the Owls held on for a 3-2 win.

Miglioranzi said: "We felt we deserved something that day.

"We have players with skill at the club and everyone wants to see attractive football. Football is about results, though, and you should never lose sight of that.

"We've put together a good run now and we want to try and keep it going at Sheffield Wednesday, whether I'm in the team or not."

Should Miglioranzi fail to recover, it could pave the way for Steve Robinson's return to the starting line-up.
