Ref. 11835Parents and children celebrated the opening of a long-awaited play area at Barrow Green, Chippenham, with a party. Coun Ruth Coleman, leader of North Wiltshire District Council, and Chippenham Mayor Desna Allen joined forces to cut a piece of tinsel and declare the play area open.
"I am so pleased we have got this up and running," said Coun Coleman at Monday's ceremony. "I am glad the children are here to play on it and want a big cheer when I cut the tinsel."
Children at the event were treated to sweets and drinks.
Katrina Mason, ten, said she was very happy the play area had opened.
"I like to come and play here," she said. "My favourite is the swings."
The play area was a joint project, between the town and district councils, and Westlea and Knightstone housing associations.
