BASEMENT side Lavington and Easterton celebrated the new year with a victory, but champions Frome Town continue to struggle after missing two penalties.

The champagne finally flowed at Lavington who after nine defeats colleted their first spoils and even sweeter still it was achieved at the expense of Division Two leaders Deverills Reserves who subsequently lost their unbeaten away record. A Steve Cullip strike six minutes from time earning Lavington a well deserved success.

Bromham Reserves were the better team against Bradford United Reserves but a Mark Mounty breakaway goal on 20 minutes proved decisive as Bradford, after three successive draws including a goalless home affair against Bromham, continued their recovery.

The Stiffs beat over Rowde Sports 5-2, with Nathan Litterick, Leigh Trainer, Keith Quadling, Nick Bush and Dave Kemmery on target.

Title hopefuls Castle Combe Reserves extended their unbeaten run to seven matches through recent-signing Scott Evans delivering a 2-1 second half winner after missing an open goal against Frome Town Sports A.

Leaders Seend United Reserves, with two late goals from Chris Bishop and Lee Jackson, ended Dilton Marsh's five match unbeaten league run in a 4-2 win.

Free kick specialist Nigel Hall wiped out Richard Stokes' opener for promotion hopefuls Dilton who levelled themselves through a Mel Messaoud 77-minute penalty after Bishop had put Seend ahead.

Bottom of Division One Blue Circle had visions of celebrating as well after Kane Scott and Garic Hopkins carved out a two-goal interval lead against Castle Combe but a brace apiece from Leyton Brown and Rob Hickman sunk pointless Circle while maintaining Combe's recovery.
