Ref. 28503-17MARTIAL arts expert Stuart Lambert has kick-started the year with his young sporty disciples.

Stuart, 28, who runs Swindon's Kickin' Heights martial arts academy, in Cheney Manor Industrial Estate, started the Kids Kick Obesity club specifically for children who want to tackle bulging waistlines.

He also runs other kickboxing classes for children and adults.

"Kickboxing is something anyone can do, it doesn't matter if you're overweight," said Stuart, who has been kickboxing since he was six.

"It's a really good way of losing weight. It also gives children the opportunity to build up their self-confidence and increases their self-esteem."

Elise Simmons, 13, of Southview Avenue, Old Walcot, said she has made lots of new friends in the few months she has been attending the sessions.

The Commonweal School pupil said: "It was hard work at first but I didn't do much exercise before. I really enjoy it and feel fitter."

Stuart is giving two children the chance to learn kickboxing for free for three years, and has a further five places at half price.

A month's membership usually costs £30 for unlimited use of the gym.
