Calne Players will be staging a wizard pantomime next month to celebrate their ten-year anniversary. The amateur theatre group will be performing the Wizard of Oz for four nights in February.
Dorothy will be taking her first steps along the Yellow Brick Road on February 18 at 7.30pm at John Bentley School hall.
"A great deal of time and effort goes into our production with little financial return," said Tabby Dawson, who is producing the show.
"We really do it for the audience participation and the love of hearing and watching the audience reaction our efforts produce.
"However to maintain the standard to which our audiences have become used, we rely on support by bottoms on seats as well as any other assistance people can give."
After a decade the group still have a few original members and gain new members every year. There are 27 cast members in this year's pantomime with Cassie Swann playing Dorothy, Paul Seymour-Smith as the Tin Man, Jenny Broderick as the Scarecrow and Carolynn Cowdry as Lion.
The group fundraises around the town to help pay for the annual production and has also received grants this year from Calne Town Council and North Wiltshire District Council.
Tickets will be on sale from February 2 from Trotmans, Expressions, A Patch of Blue and Calne Information Point in Bank House. For more information contact JR Dawson on (01249) 817515 or Carolynn Cowdry on (01249) 813559.
