Ref. 11837CALNE Players' panto dame JR Dawson stuck in his thumb and pulled out the winning ticket in the town's first Christmas draw.
Mayor Tony Trotman then did the honours and presented the £1,000 prize to winner Emil Rubenheimer, of Melksham, who said he would spend the money on his wife and children .
Community development officer Mark Wilkins said: "We wanted to give a prize that someone would think was worth winning.
"Mr Rubenheimer was delighted with the win and said he bought the ticket because he supports the Christmas lights."
The total raised from the draw has not been added up yet but any profits will be put towards next year's Christmas lights, which annually cost the town council £10,000.
