Ref. 11838FRIENDS and family of the 1st Cherhill Scout group, which was started less than a year ago, held a special jamboree to thank members for their fundraising work.
It was also an opportunity to award group leaders Steve Munn and Tony German, who have completed most of their leadership training, with their Scouting warrants, which mean they can now act independently without supervision.
More than 60 people went to the skittle and quiz night, which was held in the village hall, in The Street.
Group Scout leader Margaret Smith said the evening was intended to give interested youngsters an opportunity to see what the group does.
She said it was also intended as a thank you to members who have worked hard to raise funds for the group, including washing cars.
"It has been a good year and we have succeeded in getting a lot of boys who have never been involved in Scouting into the Cubs and Scouts," she said.
"We have gone from eight Scouts to 14 in just a few months and hopefully we can continue with our success into the New Year."
