ANDY KING has asked his players 'how much do you want promotion?' ahead of tomorrow's trip to Sheffield Wednesday.
Victory at Hillsborough would see 40 points chalked up on the board, cement sixth spot and mark Town's first run of three successive wins since autumn 1997.
King feels a very happy away day tomorrow could prove to be a significant three points in determining the club's destiny this season.
He said: "A towering performance at Sheffield Wednesday would go a long way to enhancing our chances and make a statement for me.
"It would leave us on 40 points, having won three in a row, with a home game to come next week. We are in sixth place, in the play-offs as it stands. It's where we want to be.
"Now it's up to us to keep fighting for it.
"The opportunity is there. The question, I suppose, is how much do you want it?
"But I just feel that getting to 40 points with a win on such a stage could be a major turning point in the season.
"It's a springboard to go on. The players have put themselves into a position where, at present, it's in our own hands.
"There's still a long way to go but you're getting to the stage now where if you can establish a run then gaps will start to open up.
"As long as you don't lose more than one on the trot then I think you are still going to be in there.
"At this moment, everything's in our favour to go and achieve something.
"The only two teams capable of pulling away have done so."
If Town are to win at Hillsborough, they will have to do so without Stefani Miglioranzi.
The New Yorker did not train yesterday and all the indications are that Steve Robinson will return to the starting line-up alongside Matt Hewlett in the centre of the park.
Fit-again Matt Heywood might have to be content with a place on the bench with King opting to stick with the same back four.
He said: "Miglioranzi is a blow but I think I've got enough in my squad to go there and cause Sheffield Wednesday problems.
"What I can't afford is to lose any more bodies.
"I just want us to be positive and perform to the levels that I know we're capable of.
"There's a buzz around the place this week and what I want at Sheffield Wednesday is to see that spark."
Another 20,000-plus crowd is expected at Hillsborough tomorrow and King is hoping that can be turned to the visitors' advantage.
Wednesday's home record is very poor, with only two wins recorded from 12 matches so far.
King said: "With the fantastic level of support they have, it tells me that it can be an extra man for them and result in a hard time for the opposition. Equally, if their opponents are playing well and creating chances then it could be that the crowd becomes an extra man for the other team."
Advanced tickets for the Hillsborough clash will be on sale at the County Ground box office until 4pm today.
