THE family of Trowbridge schoolgirl Charlotte Wakeham will be on the touchline at Westbury United's ground tomorrow for a fixture being played in her memory.
Charlotte lost her brave battle against cancer in September last year, aged eight.
Since her diagnosis in 2002 family, friends and Wiltshire Times readers have campaigned to raise funds for treatment and respite care for her and for children and families in the same situation, through the Charlotte's Chance of Life Fund.
Along with parents Bill and Alison and brother Leigh, six, Charlotte went regularly to watch football at Meadow Lane.
Her favourite colour was pink and tomorrow players and officials from both teams will wear pink armbands for the crunch league game when Westbury United face Corsham Town.
Leigh will be the team mascot and will lead the players out onto the pitch.
Charlotte's grandmother, Wendy Bryant will miss the game as she in Salisbury District Hos-pital after suffering several heart attacks.
Ms Bryant, 51, spent Christ-mas in hospital and went home to meet her new granddaughter, Kayla Charl-otte, born on December 30.
But she fell ill again and was taken back to hospital where she suffered her worst heart attack yet on Monday. She said: "The doctors have said I will be in for at least two weeks which means I will be here for my birthday on January 16.
"I admit I did get depressed about it all but you cannot go through life feeling sorry for yourself so I am now concentrating on getting well so I can do more work for Charlotte's appeal."
Westbury United are lying in seventh place in Division One of the Screwfix League but have seven games in hand to play.
Corsham are fifth in the league and have only lost one of their last nine games. Event organisers Andy Bown and Matt Thornhill are hoping for a big crowd tomorrow to raise money for Charlotte's Fund.
Mr Bown said: "Even if it rains really hard the teams will want to play anyway."
"But this is not really for the club it is for Charlotte's family. We want it to be a celebration of Charlotte's life rather than a sad time.
"We are hoping it will be good fun, a good game and raising money for a good cause at the same time."
Mr Thornhill said: "As keen Westbury United supporters it was great to see Charlotte, Leigh and their parents enjoying the football.
"They gave the team their support and we wanted to support them and the charity in return."
Kick off at Meadow Lane tomorrow is at 3pm.
