CHILDREN are getting ready to have their lessons in a new state-of-the-art school from Monday. Over 300 pupils and teachers from the Westbury Leigh Primary School have made the move to a new site in Leigh Park.

Children will be treated to 11 classrooms, an indoor sports hall, dining area and two playgrounds.

The former Westbury Leigh Primary School closed in December after 170 years and the land is likely to be sold for housing.

Bob Wolfson, director of children, education and libraries at Wiltshire County Council, said: "I am delighted that they will now be educated in a new school with all the facilities that offers.

"It has been an added bonus that the new building could be done without disruption to the pupils' education."

The former school had proved to be too small after pupil numbers doubled between 2000 and 2003 and many classes were taken in temporary buildings.
