Tanya Tilbury profiles the people maintaining the Journal tradition
READERS would not get their Salisbury Journal each week if it were not for a small army of reporters, photographers, sub-editors, production and advertising staff.
Behind the scenes at Rollestone House, three floors accommodate nearly 70 people all working to put the paper 'to bed' in time - by Wednesday lunchtime at the very latest.
But it is not just the Salisbury Journal that leaves the press each week. We publish a Forest and Amesbury edition of the Journal, covering the New Forest and Salisbury Plain respectively - and two editions of the Avon Advertiser, which are distributed free to homes every Wednesday.
The team also produces Limited Edition magazine every month.
Every individual performance contributes to the whole and ensures you get the best in local news, views, features and events coverage.
All the stories, pictures and pages are sent electronically these days so we no longer have to work in the same building.
Much of our production work is carried out at offices in Basingstoke and the paper is printed at parent company Newsquest's state-of-the-art press in Weymouth.
We have a district office in Ringwood too, maintaining close contact with our readers and advertisers in the New Forest.
You may recognise some of the faces on these pages - the reporters, photographers and advertising staff are regularly out and about in the area and our receptionists are there to welcome you at the front office.
But there are faces you will not recognise, such as the graphics and production staff, and our sub-editors, who design and lay out the pages of the newspaper.
We also have an in-house trainer who keeps our sales teams up to speed on the latest computer software - and of course our vital IT support.
All these people work together, week after week, to help you stay in touch with your community.
