AMESBURY Town suffered only their second defeat in 11 games on Saturday, going down 4-1 at Hampshire League Prem-ier Division leaders VTFC.
Gary Male put the hosts ahead on six minutes with an angled shot, and Martin Cornwall finished off a one-on-one to make it 2-0 in the 22nd minute.
Town were more determined in the second half, but were reduced to ten men within five minutes when Neil Sole was sent off for a second yellow card.
Andy Turner headed in a free kick for VT's third goal on 70 minutes, but Ross Harrison made it ten against ten with a red card for kicking Keith Nicholls four minutes later.
Male quashed any lingering hopes of a Blues comeback with his second, although Gareth Horner did manage a consolation when he ran from the edge of his own area and his shot was deflected in four minutes from time.
Town boss Nick Horner said: "We were outplayed by a good side, but the players responded well in the second half. Unfortun-ately Neil Sole was sent off and it's hard enough pulling back two goals with 11 men.
