PEOPLE power has secured a public meeting to discuss plans to turn a Warminster street into a cul-de-sac.
The town council hopes to block off parts of King Street to meet residents' demands to combat speeding motorists in the area.
So far members have sought advice from Wiltshire County Council for the project, and will have to meet the costs from town council funds. But residents in the surrounding area say other roads, like South Street, have worse traffic problems that need to be addressed at the same time.
After lobbying town councillors at a meeting last week they have now ensured a public meeting will take place before the project goes any further.
The meeting should take place in the next two months.
Residents' spokesman Nigel Linge said: "If we close off King Street there would be more traffic in South Street which has a couple of sudden bends and has had more accidents than King Street."
