A dispute between irate residents and lorry drivers on Trowbridge street is rumbling on despite desperate pleas for all trucks to be banned.
Homeowners in College Road, Trowbridge are angry with property developer Wimpey Homes for failing to stop drivers hurtling over speed humps outside their front doors.
Although truck drivers from the St John's Court development were warned the route was off limits two weeks ago, angry residents claim the trucks are still causing disruption by speeding over the new road humps.
Wally Symes, 72, of College Road said: "It started again very early on Tuesday morning we have had so much to put up with. We went through four and a half months of dust and noise when they were putting these humps in and they are not even the ones we wanted. It is worse when they are empty they hit the hump and make a bang and when it comes down it does it again. My front door is less than 10ft away from the road it is awful."
Two weeks ago Wimpey Homes instructed all drivers to avoid College Road as a goodwill gesture, but this week the ban appears to have been ignored.
Estate engineer Steve Baker said: "We are now putting up a sign at the exit telling all drivers not to use College Road. Some of the trucks may be sub-contracted and we won't use them if they go the wrong way."
Town and district councillor Jeff Osborn received phone calls on Tuesday morning and alerted environmental bosses at West Wiltshire District Council. He said: "These residents are very frustrated and I fear they may start taking direct action."
The traffic calming measures were introduced six months ago to introduce a quieter environment for College Road.
