LAPDANCING nights have been stopped at a Trowbridge nightclub as managers try to clean up their image.

Club FX manager Tony Murrell admitted lapdancing nights did not fit-into the Wiltshire club scene and vowed to overhaul the club's image with star guests, zero-drugs policies and a fly-posting ban.

Mr Murrell closed the club over the busy Christmas and New Year period to carry out health and safety repairs and said he was looking forward to relaunching the club this year.

Negotiations are underway to secure a regular Friday night guest DJ to spice up the town's music scene.

Mr Murrell said he has spoken to agents of several top-name DJ's including Radio 1's Trevor Nelson and DJ Spoony.

He said: "To make the club successful you need to be getting big name guests to give people a good reason to come along.

"We have cracked violence with only two police call outs in nine months and operate a zero-tolerance drugs policy. You wouldn't catch anyone in here selling drugs. I am sure of that."

Club FX will be open every Friday from today and a launch party is planned for March with Vibe 101 earmarked as event hosts.
