Ref. 27749A MUCH needed pre-school opened in North Bradley this week due to the hard work of a group of mums in the village.
The women came forward after the head teacher of North Bradley CE School, Jeanette O'Brien, asked if anyone would be interested in forming a committee to get a pre-school on site.
Committee member Suzanne Nutman said: "The old pre-school closed down seven years ago so people have been travelling into town, which puts pressure on mums."
The site of the pre-school, in a dedicated room in the village school, means that many parents with more than one child can now take both to the same place in the morning, rather than having to travel to two different schools before leaving for work.
Mrs Nutman said: "The committee has worked very hard to get this done.
"We are next to the reception class so the children can go straight from us into school, so there isn't a big thing about starting school as they have been going to this building since the age of two."
The money to open this new facility came through a variety of grants, including nearly £7,000 from the Wiltshire and Swindon Community Foundation.
Separate sessions are run for two to three-year-olds and three to five-year- olds, with some spaces still to be filled.
